So I am no expert on computers, however I know just enough to be dangerous. About six months ago I built a desktop, and it worked like a charm until last week when I could not get the screen to come up when I start up the desktop. I have tried to replace the mother board (M2N-SLI Deluxe) on the advice of a friend with no success. I have a XFX Radeon HD 4670 graphics card, and a Samsung SyncMaster 930B screen. The fan does spin up on the graphics card, and the harddrive is active. It also seems to pass POST without any issue, and I have checked the RAM to make sure it wasn't something there either. Additionally I am running XP Home Premium Any help you all can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried using another monitor?

EDIT: If you have a Linux Live CD handy, I would try to
run that. It would answer a lot of questions about the hardware on
the computer or whether it is monitor related.

If the Live CD functions correctly....boots up...good monitor image....able to go online...
then the first suspect would be the hdd causing the problem.

Hi,
First You say screen won't come up
Then you say it also seems to pass POST without any issue

So are you getting any display or not.

If not display then it isn't posting.
If Display but never finishes loading windows, then that is a different thing entirely.

Cheers
Roger

Does the monitor light come on so you know that the monitor is working. This has happen to me i would open up the computer and just pull the graphic card out and change slots i know it sounds stupid but it works. It is usually either the card or the monitor and you know both works so try different slots.
