I've just installed SP2.

I'm now presented in the address bar with something called the Windows Marketplace instead of the normal URL address bar.

Much as I love Microsoft Corporation I don't really want to be directed to their products all the time. It would be far more useful to have the normal URL address bar.

Does anyone know how to switch off the windows market place address bar pane and switch on the normal URL website location address bar pane?

You don't note which browser you are using but this works for IE and Firefox.

Click on "Tools" > "Internet Options" then input the page you want to go to... or check "blank" and input or use your favorites...

No genius here Colin.

I had the same help provided by another long ago and was lucky enough to remember.

Glad it worked out for you.
