Whenever I click on a search result in google I get sent to some completely unrelated place so I figured it is the google redirect virus, the thing is nothing I have used seems to detect it and I can't find anything using the methods I've seen on the internet.
I've been trying to fix this problem for a couple of days and have downloaded and scanned using malware bytes and kapersky's Tdss killer, also I have tried using microsoft security essentials and that did not work either.
I also tried to manually remove it but couldn't find any suspicious file names to remove.
I want to try and use combofix but I am scared I will destroy my computer even more without guidance as I don't really know what I am doing I am just following instructions posted on the internet without success.
What should I do as a first step?
I have read people use programs to post a log and then the problem can be diagnosed from there.
Also I don't know if it is relavant but windows defender is not working or updating, when I try to update it the page will appear for a second and disappear so something is wrong with it for sure.
Although malware bytes didn't find any viruses it keeps flashing a message that it has blocked a malicious site being used by utorrent and lists an IP address. Does this mean a current torrent is a problem or that utorrent is a problem?
Thanks heaps for your time.
