Hey,
Ever since i got my new found skill at computers people have been asking me to build them budget machines to use. i was just wondering wat systems you guys use in such circumstances. Thanks. You guys are Uber helpful.Lol

hey i have several basic build plans that are under 500 w/ monitor no os tho. i have about six different types all able to game running games around 50-110 fps! email me and ill send you the info

Dell, HP, Compag, and Gateway have entry level computer starting at $300 to $450 with XP Home, a monitor and warranty. You are not going to get much for $500. You can build a internet and light gaming box for that though.

I have a comp its just a basic computer for friends and family that dont do all that much gaming.

I also have very basic needs. I can pick up old P-IIIs for $25 to $50 and monitor 17"/$20. This does 90%+ of what we do. You can get a Slot 1 plug and play 1.3ghz upgrade chip and adapter for any P-II/P-III, PC66, PC100, PC133 for $120.

cool thanks for the input Acklan. I was thinking the same thing. You dont need a great system for just word processing and email.

My current PC is a 1999 Dell GX1 that had a P-III 500 mhz, I update with a http://www.powerleap.com iTP3 adapter and a 1.4 ghz Celeron. Has 768mb RAM PC100 running XP Pro. 160gb HD (Genric)
