Hi,

I started having problems yesterday with being redirect from Google. I followed directions given in another post on using RKill, TDSS rootkit tool from Kaperskey, and Malwarebytes. The MB log shows 0.2307969268889004 (Exploit.Drop.9) as quarantined & deleted successfully. Today its back to redirecting me every other link I click on. I do this process again and three things were removed from my Temp folder: msimg32.dll, arg343321.exe, and xamwconsre.exe. I come back from lunch, still being redirected. I run Malwarebytes again, nothing found. I'm at a complete loss. I'd really appreciate any help you can offer! It seems this process has worked for everyone but me.

Thank you!

Anyone? It seems like the frequency of redirect is increasing. Used to be only every other link would send me to happili.com and now I get some other site occasionally. The Kapersky Anti-Root Kit & the Malwarebytes keep saying no threats found. How is that possible? Something has to be causing this. What's the worse case scenario if this can't be fixed? Is it going to start affecting the operating system?

I only use FF, but I have IE installed. Should I launch IE and see if it redirects too? Also, I no longer get sent to happili.com. It sends me to "added success", "gimme answers", or a couple other random fake search result pages.

Yes please.

Also....

Please download GooredFix from one of the locations below and save it to your Desktop
Download Mirror #1
Download Mirror #2
  • Ensure all Firefox windows are closed.
  • To run the tool, double-click it (XP), or right-click and select Run As Administrator (Vista).
  • When prompted to run the scan, click Yes.
  • GooredFix will check for infections, and then a log will appear. Please post the contents of that log in your next reply (it can also be found on your desktop, called GooredFix.txt).

I seem to only be having problems with FF. I did some searching with IE for about 10 mins and never got redirected. Here's the newest log:

If you're using Firefox 3.x, close Firefox. Go Start>All Programs>Mozilla Firefox, click on Mozilla Firefox (safe mode).
If you're using Firefox 4, or higher go Help>Restart Firefox with Add-ons Disabled.
Same issue?

In FF safe mode, it works just fine. I haven't installed any new add-on's recently - that I know of. Do I get rid of them all?

You don't have to.
Start Firefox normally.
Disable all add-ons but ONE.
Restart FF.
No redirection?
If so re-enable next add-on.
Restart...and so on until you find the culprit.

When I used FF in Safe Mode, no redirects. Today when I started up FF normal and disabled the plug-ins one at a time, I still got redirected - after disabling ALL of them. Could there be one that's hidden? Now I'm being sent to fake search results sites without names, just an IP address. So frustrating! How did I even get this thing?

Uninstall Firefox completely using this manual: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox
Install fresh copy.
