My operating system is Windows Vista.
A while back, I started noticing that I would receive pop-ups while using Google Chrome. Sometimes there would be audible sound associated with an advertisement but I could not actually find the advertisement itself to X it out (this hasn't happened in a while, though). Most of the time, the pop-ups lead me to unrelated sites (some names I remember are mevio & ifood). I ignored the pop-ups until recently, when every time I would click a link through Google search, it would redirect me to another site. I then followed Bleeping Computer's advice and downloaded the TDSS Killer. Now, this problem is resolved, but I still have pop-ups (even though I have the Google Chrome pop-up blocker enabled). Some pop-ups have links with "redirect" in them, and some are related to the site I am on (for instance, if I was on a shopping site, the pop-up would involve the site's name). I have had this problem for probably a little over a month and have ignored it until now, but I am worried that the problem will lead to other problems. I have been researching what this problem was and I believe it is a Google Redirect virus. I tried downloading Hitman Pro and it found some trojans/malware of some sort, but after removing them, my computer would not restart, so I used System Restore and uninstalled Hitman Pro from my computer.

What can I do to prevent these pop-ups and how much harm can this Google Redirect cause? I am really not an expert on these kinds of issues so detailed instructions would be appreciated!

Thank you so much in advance :)

I have also scanned with SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes' Anti-malware. SUPERAntiSpyware only removed the typical tracking cookies and no objects came up infected with Malwarebytes.

****NOTE: While I was using the MiniToolBox, there seemed to be an error. A dialog box came up with the title “nslookup.exe – Ordinal Not Found” with the description “The ordinal 1108 could not be located in the dynamic link library WSOCK32.dll” After I pressed OK, another dialog box came up saying “nslookip has stopped working” and that Windows was trying to find a solution. I waited for a while and no solution seemed to being found, so I pressed Cancel. The initial dialog box came back up, and I had to x-out these dialog boxes several times. Then the MiniToolBox seemed to continue and I then received the log which I posted above.****

We're dealing here with ZeroAccess infection.
More advanced tools will be needed.

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<== starting at Step 6. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues, what you have done to resolve them, and a link to this topic.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.

It would be helpful if you post a note here once you have completed the steps in the guide and have started your topic in malware removal. Good luck and be patient.

If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.
