I have acer 5100 running windows XP media-center. Since few days the laptop had been running slow and then all of a sudden my antivirus was disabled. I try to reinstall it but my DVD drive was not able to run the CD, Actually I didnt see any cd in the drive each time I put and antivirus installation CD. I tried booting in safe mode and the computer was shut down during boot and locked down for few minutes. i try to do a factory reset using a recovery disk but that too is interrupted during the process..
I dont know what causes this and how to remove it.
Please Help.
Thanks in advance

If the recovery CD didn't work, you may have a failing CD drive. Can you still access normal mode?

regards, Elise
