Attempted to download Avira version 9 from File Hippo which was reccommended to me as one of the better versions..and when the download finished and I opened to install..I got an error message telling me "The Package Is Broken"..try downloading again..so I went to Snapfiles..and same thing happened..so I am assuming Avira doesnt want you downloading older versions?

Another program reccommended to me was Avast 4.8.1368 and it won't update and the registration doesnt work but the offline mode registration works..just unable to update....Someone told me some of these companies try to discourage you from downloading older versions..Has anyone experienced this?

My apologies, I posted in the wrong topic, I removed that reply. :)

Which Antivirus do you want to stick to, Avira or Avast? Note that you shouldn't use two AVs at the same time.

Where do you see that?

Personally I'd go for Avira first. The download link: http://download.cnet.com/Avira-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10322935.html?part=dl-&subj=dl&tag=button

Any particular reason you want 9 and not 12? 9 is no longer supported, so no mirrors are available. The filehippo mirror is 2 years old and not somethng I'd recommend to use.

No offense..but I dont like publishing specs of my pc for the world to see..I had to report an abusive member earlier and I was contacted by the staff telling me it was in review..and I was urged to stay with the forum so I returned and getting these error messages telling me Im not allowed to use private messaging or view topics so how can I participate in the forum?..Seems like Im the one being punished for reporting an incident..Jon
