Hi BleepingComputer.....

I have a really weird problem...I just got home, and normally I would log on to Steam.

I logged on to Steam.....and it asked for my password. I entered it correctly, however it said that the password was incorrect. So I tried to make it send a password to the email account I used to register my Steam account. I went to my hotmail, and.....the password I entered was wrong too. So....finally I checked my Gmail account and it says "Your password was changed 1 hour ago"

...

I have contacted them all asking for help, but I post here because I want to know....what is this?? Could this be virus? Trojan? I just ran AVG and there were 4 trojan, could this be the cause of all this?

What is more is that I managed to reset my Gmail password, only to have it changed again by "someone" or "something".....

Sigh...

EDIT: NOW I KNOW

In my hotmail, the hacker was talking to my friend. GOd knows what he said. Basically it is very likely I was hacked. Each time I managed to successfully change my passwords in my old and new email accounts, I always get an email saying I have changed the password again....please help.....oh my God T_T

So basically he can access my accounts, even my facebook. What can I do with this?

Please help I am so shocked, the first time hacked...

if you go to inbox in gmail, at the bottom right you can see "Open in xx other sessions", THIS must be the hacker. I immediately close "all other sessions" but he still keeps coming back...

I can tell you using an IP locator site, that the IP Address of the hacker is from Optus, it is an ISP company, phone company, etc. Very very very big in Australia.

Is the IP address accurate? If so, I will give Optus a call right this second.

EDIT:

No matter how many times I change my password, it seems he can just keep coming back.....what should I do, seriously? I have to be active and constantly check my email to sign out other users(the hacker).

I have run MBAM and SuperSAS but found no keylogger......What could this be?

Change the passwords from a different PC/

Lets look for keyloggers and info stealers.

Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Posted Image and save it to your desktop.
  • Important!! When you save the mbam-setup file, rename it to something random (such as 123abc.exe) before beginning the download.
Malwarebytes may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.

  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet and double-click on the renamed file to install the application.
  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  • Malwarebytes will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.
  • If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button and continue.
  • If you cannot update Malwarebytes or use the Internet to download any files to the infected computer, manually update the database by following the instructions in FAQ Section A: 4. Issues.
  • Under the Scanner tab, make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
  • Click on the Scan button.
  • When finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box, then click the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked and then click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows the database version and your operating system.
  • Exit Malwarebytes when done.
Note: If Malwarebytes encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally will prevent Malwarebytes from removing all the malware.

-- Some types of malware will target Malwarebytes and other security tools to keep them from running properly. If that's the case, go to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes Anti-Malware folder > Tools > click on Malwarebytes Chameleon and follow the onscreen instructions. The Chameleon folder can be accessed by opening the program folder for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (normally C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware or C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware).

>>>

Please download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware Free
  • Double-click SUPERAntiSypware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use SUPERAntiSpyware to scan and remove malware from your computer Guide.
  • An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
  • If it will not start, go to Start > All Prgrams > SUPERAntiSpyware and click on Alternate Start.
  • If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here. Double-click on the hyperlink for Download Installer and save SASDEFINITIONS.EXE to your desktop. Then double-click on SASDEFINITIONS.EXE to install the definitions.)
  • In the Main Menu, click the Preferences... button.
  • Click the "General and Startup" tab, and under Start-up Options, make sure "Start SUPERAntiSpyware when Windows starts" box is unchecked.
  • Click the "Scanning Control" tab, and under Scanner Options, make sure the following are checked (leave all other options as they are set):
    • Close browsers before scanning.
    • Scan for tracking cookies.
    • Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
  • Click the "Close" button to leave the Control Center screen.
  • Back on the main screen, under "Select Scan Type" check the box for Complete Scan.
  • If your computer is badly infected, be sure to check the box next to Enable Rescue Scan (Highly Infected Systems ONLY).
  • Click the Scan your computer... button.
  • After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
  • Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
  • A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
  • If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes" and reboot normally.

To retrieve the scan log after reboot, launch SUPERAntiSpyware again.
  • Click the View Scan Logs button at the bottom.
  • This will open the Scanner Logs Window.
  • Click on the log to highlight it and then click on View Selected Log to open it.
  • Copy and paste the scan log results in your next reply.
-- Some types of malware will disable security tools. If SUPERAntiSpyware will not install, please refer to these instructions for using the SUPERAntiSpyware Installer. If SUPERAntiSpyware is already installed but will not run, then follow the instructions for using RUNSAS.EXE to launch the program.

Reset the router to its default configuration. This can be done by inserting something tiny like a paper clip end or pencil tip into a small hole labeled "reset" located on the back of the router. Press and hold down the small button inside until the lights on the front of the router blink off and then on again (usually about 10 seconds). If you don’t know the router's default password, you can look it up HERE

You also need to reconfigure any security settings you had in place prior to the reset. Check out this site here for video tutorials on how to properly configure your router's encryption and security settings. You may also need to consult with your Internet service provider to find out which DNS servers your network should be using.

Thank you boopme.

I have done both straight away when I realized it happened to me, however since you asked me to do it, I shall do it again for you.

By the way....I just....really would love to know, I am curious.

THis is what truly happened. I tried signing in to Steam, but it asked for a password. SO I went to my hotmail. In my hotmail, firefox told me that the certificate is suspicious, but I logged on anyway. Is this the first cause of this chaos? (You know in safe secure sites just to the left of the website address, you can see certificates. Like facebook, hotmail, bank account etc.)

So.....I really would love to know. Is it my computer they have hacked into? Or they have only hacked my hotmail? Because 3 things were hacked. Steam, hotmail, and my gmail account. in my computer though, absolutely nothing has changed/been deleted

So what do you think boopme? Right now I made my google a 2 step verification so its harder to be hacked. My password is also hard to guess.

The worst of all is of course....he talked to some of my friends and said rude things...my friends of course believed the hacker.....this is great...

But dont worry about that, I just want to know, did he hack my hotmail (hence the creepy scary suspicious certificate) or my computer? (Which I dont think so because nothing changed/was deleted)

Thank you!!

EDIT: I want to get Avast, do you recommend this boopme? I heard its 1 of the best free antivirus?

Hello I suspect it was only your mail.

I think AVast or Avira are the best free AV's I use AVira with MBAm and superanntispyware as on demand makware cleaners,

Still would like to see a Minibox log and an online scan.

Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.

Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.

I'd like us to scan your machine with ESET OnlineScan
  • Hold down Control and click on the following link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
    ESET OnlineScan
  • Click the Posted Image button.
  • For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
    • Click on Posted Image to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
    • Double click on the Posted Image icon on your desktop.
  • Check Posted Image
  • Click the Posted Image button.
  • Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  • Under scan settings, check Posted Image and check Remove found threats
  • Click Advanced settings and select the following:
    • Scan potentially unwanted applications
    • Scan for potentially unsafe applications
    • Enable Anti-Stealth technology
  • ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
  • When the scan completes, push Posted Image
  • Push Posted Image, and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
  • Push the Posted Image button.
  • Push Posted Image

NOTE: In some instances if no malware is found there will be no log produced.

Well, if it was only email then it is a relief for me. Yes, Like I said before, when I tried to go to Hotmail, the certificate became suspicious. I think it all started with that. Also that would explain why the hacker was talking to my hotmail friends and saying rude things...

After ESET please do another quick one as I see someting I want to check
Download aswMBR to your desktop.
Double click the aswMBR.exe to run it.
Click the "Scan" button to start scan:
Posted Image

On completion of the scan click "Save log", save it to your desktop and post in your next reply:
Posted Image

NOTE. aswMBR will create MBR.dat file on your desktop. This is a copy of your MBR. Do NOT delete it

OK,this 09:35:03.952 Disk 0 Partition 3 00 17 Hidd HPFS/NTFS NTFS 11971 MB offset 1225746432

may be a problem and we should get a deeper look. Please go here....Preparation Guide ,do steps 6-9.

Create a DDS log and post it in the new topic explained in step 9 which is here Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs and not in this topic, thanks.
Skip GMER and repost the aswMBR log above..

Let me know if that went well.

Thanks Sumo, This is where we part. You will get excellnt help there and they will finish where we left off. They will clean this off and the other stuff I left(eg.. outdated items) before you're done.

Now that your log is properly posted, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a Malware Removal Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.

From this point on the Malware Removal Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the Malware Removal Team members are very busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the Malware Removal Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another MRL Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

The current wait time is 1 - 3 days and ALL logs are answered.

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic
