how to format usb drive in ubuntu 11.10

i dont have an option to format or rename my drive on this version of ubuntu when the last version it was easy how do i do it?

I would suggest using GParted. You can install it using the software center. :)

you can format it by using terminal or by using gparted

here is the commant to format the pendrive using terminal

$su
//type your root password
#fdisk -l // display all the volume and other externel connnected HDD and flash drive select the drive you want to format
#umount /dev/sdb1 // selected flash drive -/dev/sdb1
#mkfs.vfat /dev/sdb1 //after typing you pendrive is formatted
