Ok my 200gig HD changed to 135gig after I formatted my comp. This is an emachine, I caught a virus and decided to format the HD and install a new copy of XP pro. I deleted all the partitions and created a new one. then install xp pro. after everything was done i check the HD and it only gave me 135gig instead of near 200gig. The emachine originally came with 2 partion, one for backup files and one for regular files. I tried formatting it with the original cd that came with the comp and it still doesn't work. And now I'm in a confusion, dont know wat to do. any suggestion is helpful.

Welcome to Bleeping Computer!

Just to clarify: When you go to
Start>My Computer
how many partitions do you see? Only the C: drive (which is showing as 135 gigs)? No others?

Go to Start>right click on My Computer>Manage>Disk Management

What do you see there? Only one partition? What size etc? Do you see other unpartitioned space?

If you are interested in combining the two partitions into one, you can do that by using Partition Magic (availalbe HERE). This is a pay program. I am sure there are free programs out there that can do this, too, but I am not comfortable enough with any of them to recommend them to you. Perhaps someone else here can do that, or you ask for free program recommendations by starting another thread in the All Other Applications forum found HERE.
