My spare computer became so slow that I tried to re-install Windows XP. The computer name is 'Ultra'. I used a Dell windows XP SP2 re-installation disc that I had. The actions are that the first window says Windows Setup is loading files. it installs the hardware and then says Windows is restarting but Windows never restarts and the computer goes no further. I tried to restart windows - no success. I tried hitting F10 on restart to get out of the 'boot from CD' mode but the computer will not boot any other way but from the CD. Is there a way I can

System manufacturer and model for this "spare computer"?

FWIW: If you read the EULA regarding use of Dell disks...you will see that they are only to be used with the appropriate system which said disks were prepared for.

Ultra RT8. I don't know what EULA is and didn't know that. The disc I was attemtping to use was an older (Dell Win XP SP2)one so I didn't think it mattered.

Actually it's my brother's computer. He couldn't find the original reinstallation disc so he tried the Dell. I have told him and he is looking for the 'Ultra' disc. In the interim, can anything be done with the computer as it is now?

Please double check and confirm the make/model number of the system.
I am finding nothing on such system. Are you overseas possibly?

A Dell XP disk is designed to work with Dell systems only.
In the beginning there was the command line.
