Hello all. Hopefully someone can assist me with this following problem.

A friend brought me an HP Pavilion DV4 which would power up, but the screen would not work. I did the usual "pull the battery, unplug the power and hold down the power button" trick to no avail. I then replaced the screen with a new one and everything was working fine. I turned off the computer and when I powered it back up the screen was not working.

I have a couple of other screens I have tried and found that they do not work either. I can see that the machine is working fine when I plug in an external monitor and I have traced the wiring harness from the inverter back to the board to ensure it is plugged in and there are no breaks or shorts.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Sometimes you can't see the defect.

I had a Thinkpad with no backlight.

I tried a new inverter, Nope.
I Tried a New screen, Nope
I tried a new video cable from motherboard to screen / inverter, Working

Sometimes you just have to try everything.

Also it could be the motherboard not feeding power to the inverter or screen.

Good Luck
