Hello,

I have a networked computer that is experiencing the following issues:
1. Logmein traffic works perfectly, is it super fast and I have no issues.
2. Internet will not load, or loads impossibly slowly.
3. Dropbox does not load beyond 1KBs and then will drop out
4. Updates will not work/download
5. Downloads/ftp traffic fail

What I have tried.
1. switching ports it is plugged into on the router, to a port that another (perfectly working) computer is plugged into.
2. Changing IP address
3. Running the norton removal tool
4. Logging in under a different account
5. removing the hosts file
6. Setting IP to dynamic

I have had no luck beyond that...any ideas? I am a CCNA here and this is simply driving me NUTS lol

Thanks,

William

Please download Farbar Service Scanner (FSS) and run it on the computer with the issue.
  • Make sure the following options are checked:
    • Internet Services
    • Windows Firewall
    • System Restore
    • Security Center/Action Center
    • Windows Update
  • Press "Scan".
  • It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
  • Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

What error messages do you get with IE, FTP, and drop box?

Ie just tries to keep loading, the tab text, like "CNN breaking news...". Will always load, and then sometimes it will just go Internet connection not available. Dropbox will upload at .5-1 kbs but has been stuck on the same 10 1mb files for weeks. Dropbox will also sometimes just get a red x and say can't establish secure connection. Finnaly FTP download will try to start and then just say it timed out. But I can browse to the FTP site and login and explore just fine.

Finnaly logmein works perfect.
Ohh one last note, if I try to move a file to this pc from another on the net work it tried and then I get the error "network path too deep" and it cancels.

I would recommend replacing the network card and power cycling the modem / router to see if it helps. By power cycling simply unplug wait 2 to 3 minutes then plug it back in.

I will try the network card next...but why would it work fine on other computers?

thats networking for you. I once had 3 different dlink routers where each one would only allow one application to work on it. It was weird. I no longer use or recommend dlink routers.
