Cd-rom Won't Work

my lite-on ltr-48327s thing will not run; computer is emachine t2885. i don't know what to do

Has if worked in the passed? Does it appear in the Devicee Manager? Does it appear in the BIOS?

Thanks for the welcome. Yes it has worked in the past. It shows up in device manager as working properly.
After going thru troubleshootin without results I contacted eMachines . The advice they gave did not work. At this point I don't know if it would be better to replace the hardware if I can find it or get another CPU.
