I have a laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit that will not connect to the internet. I can ping websites and get a reply, but Internet Explorer just hangs and I get Not Responding in Task Manager. I have ran Malwarebytes, AVG, and Microsoft Security Essentials. None of these show any viruses. I tried installing Microsoft Fix It, but it would not load. I get the same results if I boot in Safe Mode with Networking.

What happens when you try to bring up Internet Explorer and browse the net? Get any error messages?

AVG, and Microsoft Security Essentials

Please use only one antivirus and uninstall either one or AVG. Check the connection problem again.

I have uninstalled both AVG and Microsoft Security Essentials. The problem still persists.

I typed in the address, then it changed to http://www.cryptodan.net/forums/index.php, then it just acted like it was trying to connect, but nothing.

Go to http://www.whatismyip.com and then PM Me your IP so I can see if it actually made it to my server.

Please try the following:

To remove temporary files, disable browser add-ons, and reset all the changed settings:
  • Close all the open windows.
  • Go to start > Control Panel.
  • Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.
  • Click Reset again and OK.

I could find the Advanced Tab in Control Panel. I did reset the Internet Explorer settings clearing all those items out. Same problem.
I have also tried removing Internet Explorer and installing IE9 from the Microsoft download, but when I try to install, it tells me there is a newer version already on my computer. So I reinstalled from the Windows components.

Bring up a command prompt and type in the following:

ftp cryptodan.net

for user name: anon

for password: anonymous123

You will then want to do a "get firefox_11.exe" and install it.
