Hi all ..I ran across this portion of the forum while looking for information to a w7 problem I had. I ended up doing a clean install but didn't reinstall Ubuntu too which I had been running with windows..so at this time I'm not running it but would love to be.

My problem is that I can't figure out how to install the software of my favorite game site. The internet is my life for now because of an illness that keeps me from doing other things, so as long as I cannot come up with a solution.. I'm bound to window.

Here are the instructions for running their software on linux which I followed and tried over and over but had no luck. Even though I'm very inexperienced with linux I did read extensively and tried everything I could understand enough to try.

If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance for taking an interest.

SHG Under Linux Instructions as suggested on the wine forum from:
Seems to work in Wine in Linux.
What was done:

Install winetricks firefox
Go to the safeharborgames website and download the installer (you can do this in any browser)
the installer is an msi file, so install it with msiexec /i
Using Firefox in Wine, go to the safeharborgames website
Create an account if you haven't already, and log in
Click on whatever game you want to play
When prompted to install flash player, accept.
Click on whatever room you want to enter
When prompted for what application to launch with, click the Choose button, browse to the directory where harborgames.exe is located, and choose that. The first time you do that, it will download the games.
Wait for the game to load. It takes about 20 seconds.

Note that the desktop link for safeharborgames doesn't work, but running Firefox and going to the website does.

Also, just remembered this option:
"The linuX-gamers Live DVD is a bootable medium with a collection of popular 3D games. It contains both the NVIDIA and ATI proprietary Linux drivers and includes the following games: BzFLag, Enemy Territory, Glest, Nexuiz, Sauerbraten, Torcs, Tremulous, True Combat: Elite, Warsow and World of Padman. Although the live DVD is based on Arch Linux, it does not offer any desktop Linux functionality except gaming." http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=linuxgamers

Thank you for you're input and referral but I only play gin spades and euchre of which spades is my favorite. I prefer sites so I can play with and against people instead of the computer for the interactions and friendships.
