Asus EeePC 1005PEB - Brother-in-Laws...badly infected with a few issues and one being the Google Redirect type virus. With no remedies working we decided to completely wipe the machine and put the factory image back on the machine.
I deleted the first partition and installed the factory image using their their provided DVD.
Installed Chrome, Firefox, Picasa - put some of his image files back on the machine then instaled Microsoft Security Essentials. MSE came up with a Trojan:DOS/Alureon.E and couldn't clean it...not much information on the MS site either.
It seems to continue to multiply either that or MSE keeps picking it up and not being happy I haven't figured out how to rid it of this virus. Thanks MS.
Security Essentials encountered the following error: Error code 0x80070032. The request is not supported.
Description: This program is dangerous and executes commands from an attacker.
Recommended action: Remove this software immediately.
Security Essentials detected programs that may compromise your privacy or damage your computer. You can still access the files that these programs use without removing them (not recommended). To access these files, select the Allow action and click Apply actions. If this option is not available, log on as administrator or ask the security administrator for help.

Ran ComboFix and netted the attached log. It mentioned that there was a Rootkit present...but after all was said and done, it didn't remedy it and MSE is still yelling at me.
When I was putting the image back on the machine it did look as if the utility stated that there were 4 partitions the 4th only being 2mb...but I am not sure how to delete partitions if that is true...wonder if killing the 4th partition would be possible and if it would remedy the situation.
What should I try next gang?
