Hi all. I cannot get windows to open in safe mode or normal mode. I was able to get into the C prompt and copy some important files to a thumb drive, but noticed some odd files in there (the long number lower case ones that others are talking about). So, I suspect I have been infected with this odd virus.

How can I run a system clean from the C prompt? Can I put it on a disk and boot from that? Or, it is time to just do a total restore. (And...no, I sadly do not have a prior restore point for this laptop)

Any wisdom you can share would be appreciated.

Hello, we can try this first/

Avira AntiVir Rescue System

Please download the Avira AntiVir Rescue System .

Place a blank CD in your burner and double-click on the rescue system package (rescuecd.exe) to burn it to a CD/DVD which you can then use to boot your computer and run a scan. For detailed instructions, refer to the Tutorial for Avira Rescue CD. If you encounter problems running Avira AntiVir Rescue System, you can get further assistance at the Avira Tools Support Forum.
