I've had this annoying pop-up for a couple of weeks now when I visit specific websites particularly MSM news sites and some not so MSM. I've looked around for solutions but no luck in finding the answer.

Hello, as you didn't give us the line #,browser used or the OPerating system ,I am going with your virtual memory has been disabled.

1.Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2.Double-click the System icon.
3.On the Performance tab, click Virtual Memory.
4.Click the "Let Windows manage my virtual memory settings (recommended)" option. Or, if you must use your own virtual memory settings, allow as much space as possible for the maximum size.
5.Click OK.

Sorry for the lack of info. I'm running XP and IE8. (160gB HD/2gB RAM) Specifically, the first pop-up says I'm out of memory at line 1 and continues popping up while I remain on that page. When I select another website, the pop-up says I'm out of memory at line 7. When I checked VM settings, It was set to custom with the initial size of 2xxx and max of 4xxx. Currently I have it set for system management with the problem still occuring.

I am able to view the page. The pop-up (...line 1) goes away hitting the ESC key then may or may not reappear. Then when I attempt to navigate away from that page, the "...line7" pop-up appears. I noticed that tonight more often than not that last pop-up stated, "...line 6".

Ok, I do not think its malware. so run ine more scan amd if the issue continues start a new topic in XP and they will look at other things.

I'd like us to scan your machine with ESET OnlineScan
  • Hold down Control and click on the following link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
    ESET OnlineScan
  • Click the Posted Image button.
  • For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
    • Click on Posted Image to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
    • Double click on the Posted Image icon on your desktop.
  • Check Posted Image
  • Click the Posted Image button.
  • Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  • Under scan settings, check Posted Image and check Remove found threats
  • Click Advanced settings and select the following:
    • Scan potentially unwanted applications
    • Scan for potentially unsafe applications
    • Enable Anti-Stealth technology
  • ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
  • When the scan completes, push Posted Image
  • Push Posted Image, and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
  • Push the Posted Image button.
  • Push Posted Image

NOTE: In some instances if no malware is found there will be no log produced.

Results of ESET scan:
C:\Documents and Settings\Tom\Desktop\Hirens.BootCD.15.1.zip Win32/PSWTool.KonBoot.A application deleted - quarantined
C:\Documents and Settings\Tom\Desktop\Hirens.BootCD.15.1\Hiren's.BootCD.15.1.iso Win32/PSWTool.KonBoot.A application deleted - quarantined

Don't know what is was about this file in Hiren's, but the problem stiil exists.

Appears its a false positive.. Its seeing the Hirens as an intruder ,which it is,but doesn't know to differentiate..

At the time of this writing, Konboot is available as an archive containing an image file named "cd-konboot-v1.1-2in1.iso". The .ISO image is then used to create a bootable image on either CD-ROM or USB removable drive. Booting a computer using the boot image allows a user to log on to a user account without knowing the logon credentials.

After logging on, a user could make changes to the computer such as modifying the logon credentials or other actions.

I do not know what is next. It is not malware. We could turn it off (the warning) but that doesnt fix anything. Ask about it in XP and see if an Advisor there has an idea,.
