So I recently downloaded a series of Windows updates. I guess it's been a while. Anyway. Ever since I've downloaded and installed the updates, not all content is loading on webpages. Also, everytime I try to load AIM, it starts to open but randomly closes. Any suggestions?

For instance on twitter, no matter what link I go to or what I click on, it just goes to the main page. In addition, when I click on a link that should prompt a menu, it won't work. Oh and youtube videos aren't loading.

Do you have M/soft updates set to download and install on a regular basis ??
Also have you updated to Win7 SP1 yet ??

Please list the details of your system so that the items above can also be checked -

Thank You -

I don't believe so. There was an icon on the right side of my taskbar that said I had a bunch of updates. I clicked on it and selected update.

Also have you updated to Win7 SP1 yet ??

I'm not sure. Is there a way to check on that?

What details are you referring to? Sorry, I'm kind of a novice.

What browser do you use? Does this problem show up in other browsers?

Use Speccy to provide details of your computer's configuration.

  • Download, install, and run.
  • After Speccy has finished gathering information, click File > Publish Snapshot.
  • Click Yes. A web address will be displayed.
  • Click Copy to Clipboard and paste it in your next post.
  • Include your computer's manufacturer and model number, if available.

If it looks like I know what I'm doing, there's a pretty good chance the only reason for that is because
I once asked someone to run chkdsk /r and a BC Advisor smacked me in the back of the head.

I only have Internet Explorer 8. However, since the problem effects non browser related functions like AIM and to some extent Yahoo! Messenger, I'm guessing it's not a browser problem.

Copied from PM to update the thread:

I have IE 9 and that seems to have fixed my browser problems. My only issue now is AIM which keeps force closing everytime I try to open it.

I suggest reinstalling AIM as a first step.

Done. I downloaded the new AIM and it seems to work just fine. I guess everything's good now.
