Windows XP on LG notebook.
Whether boot normally or in safe mode get message

indicates a revision number encountered or specified is not one known by this service
It may be more recent revision than service is aware of

all you can do is click ok and it reboots

Tried safe mode, last known good configuration, repair windows xp, AVG start up scan virus removal. Removed worm/Autoit.ADKD
No change

What a pain.
Needed to install second copy of windows, drivers, service packs, updates, avg, firefox, other programs etc etc etc
At least all the data in C:\Documents and Settings is ok.
Customer is lucky.
