Hello, I have recently contracted a particularly annoying piece of Malware called Alfacleaner. I went through the usual steps of running Ad-aware and removing it with add/remove programs, I also manually deleted all instances of this program I found running, but it seems to have written itself somewhere else on my HD. I'm not sure what to do because Ad-Aware detects it every so often, but it never completely solves the problem. I've tried spydoctor, but it always fails to load properly, and Microsoft Antispyware Search and Destroy won't download because everytime I try to authenticate my OS, my browser freezes up.

Any tips on minimizing the effects of this malware would be appreciated, as it is I essentially do not have a desktop and I am forced to run programs using taskmanager. I can't access anything within my computer that isn't a .exe file, so that means I'm very limited in the functions my computer can perform at the moment. Are there any free virus removal programs that would be recommended for removing this annoyance?

Well is seems as though you might want to post an HJT log...

You can Start Here. Apparently you have already completed alot of these steps, but you should double check the list anyways.

Thanks for the advice, I seem to have gotten rid of alfacleaner, but my desktop is still missing. I've also posted a HJT log in that section of the forums.

Ok, I have liberated my desktop! Thanks a million, however, I would appreciate it if my HJT log were reviewed for any other potential problems, and thanks again, you guys and gals are awesome!

You're very welcome! You're HJT log should be reviewed within the next couple of days. Be sure to check back
