Hi All -

A netbook in the household crashed. - An HP Mini 110-1030NR - It's a couple of years old, and had XP installed - There is a Microsoft license sticker/product key on the bottom of the computer.

I searched around the web and found a solution to boot from a flash drive, using HP MIE Restore image creator from the HP website. I created the bootable USB drive on another computer. Then I booted from the USB on the netbook.

The computer now boots up - But with NO Windows OS! It opens into an OS that looks something like a Linux OS.

I don't think this came with any restore CD's, as there isn't a CD drive.

I'll take any suggestions on how to restore the Windows XP OS. (Although I keep telling my Wife she'll be using her Ubuntu laptop...)

most if not all netbooks have a recover partition ,some hidden ,on boot up try hitting f11 for boot options and look for recovery drive ,this will get it back to factory settings,

if f11 doesn't work try f8 they sometime have the option in there to boot to recovery

Appears to me that...if you never followed the prescribed procedure for creating disks...you may be out of luck.
