I currently own a mid-2011 Mac Mini with OS X Lion which I use on a daily basis. A friend has offered to give me an older Mac Mini that he no longer wants. It's the model with a 1.5ghz single core intel, 60gb HD and 1mg RAM (I believe it can be upgraded to 2gb max). I find that I sometimes need a windows machine, and would like to install Windows XP on the old Mac. Can this be done easily? I would not be looking run apple software on this Mac, just windows. If it's a difficult process, then I'll wait to buy a windows machine. Thanks for any info.

Thanks for the info and the link - very informative. I have XP (32-bit), so that's what I was hoping.

Oh yeah, I forgot. Make sure it's the SP2 version. Anything less won't install on the Mac.

Unfortunately the Mac Mini my friend had given me turned out to be a G4 1.25ghz with the PowerPC cpu. I posted a different thread questioning how much I should spend on it - especially considering you can't run XP. But thanks for the info, as it does let me know what Mac Mini will run windows.
