Download, install, upsate and run the following freeware:

AdAware SE freeware:

Spybot S&D:
Make sure “Teatimer” is downloaded and enabled as it provides realtime protection against changes in your registry and BHOs.

Microsoft Windows Defender
This also provides realtime protection.

Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool (Win XP and Win 2000):

Zerospyware (Windows 98/Me/2000/XP)
