Unable to modify Hosts file

I'm new here and not sound in computer's technical terms. So, pardon me for my mistakes.
Anyway, for some reason I wanted to modify my Host file but when I tried to 'Save' the modified Host file, it says that I've to seek permission from the Administrator where I's logged in as the Administrator. Then I got an article on such problem and from there I got the 'HijackThis' link. Then I ran it and it gave me a message:
"For some reason your system denied write access to the Hosts file. If any hijacked domains are in this file, Hijack This may NOT be able to fix this. If that happens, you need to edit the file yourself."
Later, I's suggested to upload the log file to a Forum for further analysis.
So, I'm uploading it here. I'm not understanding what's the problem. So, please review my problems and suggest me what to do to get back things to normal as before.

If you can please print this topic it will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and complete all of the necessary steps.

HijackThis is not ready for Windows 7 so you HOSTS file may not be corrupted.

By default, if you try to modify your hosts file in Vista or Window 7, it will not let you save it. It tells you that you don't have permission. To successfully modify the hosts file, run notepad.exe as an administrator and open the file.

1) Browse to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories
2) Right click "Notepad" and select "Run as administrator"
3) Click "Continue" on the UAC prompt
4) Click File -> Open
5) Browse to "C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc"
6) Change the file filter drop down box from "Text Documents (*.txt)" to "All Files (*.*)"
7) Select "hosts" and click "Open"
8) Make the needed changes and close Notepad. Save when prompted.

If you have any other problems with this computer please run and post this log.
Let me know the nature of the problems.

Please download and run this DDS Scanning Tool. Nothing will be deleted. It will just give me some additional information about your system.

  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links if you no longer have it available. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run.

Please just paste the contents of the DDS.txt log in your next post. DO NOT attach the log.
