Hello! I'm new to the site and having a lot of issues with a Windows 7 laptop. Nearly all the desktop shortcuts to programs have disappeared and have been unpinned from the task bar. Although I have a working Internet sites that begin with http: will not display (Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage), however several that begin with https: will display correctly (this happens in both IE & Firefox).

Microsoft Windows Malicious software removal popped up on start and showed the following:

Backdoor: Win32/Cycbot.B - Detected, not removed
Trojan: DOS/Alureon.A - partially removed

I ran McAfee scans & Malwarebytes Anti malware (though it will not let it update to the most recent version), and these are some of the issues that were found:

hieiwzne.exe
BackDoor-EXl.a!conf (quarantined)
BackDoor-EXl.gen.ah\838A6\lwm.exe

I thought it was taken care of, but Malwarebytes now shows 2 items despite finding & saying they would be deleted on reboot:
Trojan.Agent File C:\\Windows\svchost.exe
Trojan.Agent Process C:\\Windows\svchost.exe

The internet issues are still going on, as well.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Please follow the instructions in ==>Malware Removal and Log Section Preparation Guide<==.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include the link to this topic in your new topic and a description of your computer issues and what you have done to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.

Once you have created the new topic, please reply back here with a link to the new topic.

Most importantly please be patient till you get a reply to your topic.
