I've tried every combination of 'DMA if available' and 'PIO only' and I still can't get the DVD drive to work on this pos Toshiba Satellite. Any ideas what to try next? Thanks...

This "Point Of Sale" (POS) Toshiba you have, how can anybody help if you don't say how the DVD isn't working.

Does it only read DVDs or does it only read CDs or does it read nothing?

Does the drawer not open or does it show up in my computer?

Or you could be saying I can't boot from the DVD and so on.

And as the_patriot11 says what is the complete model of your Toshiba.

Mine is probably three years old now and works flawlessly. It is really fast since I switched it to a SSD boot drive from a 5400RPM drive.

Also Toshiba is one brand that has all the necessary files needed to put Windows 7 on all models since 2007.
