Okay heres the thing, I am unsure as to wether this is related to a viris or intrusion on my computer or wether I am just being stupid and there is a logical explanation, however the taskbar that has lways been constantly present at the bottom on the screen seems to have totally deserted me, this has happened every so often before, but restarting the computer has always done the trick, however yesterday i restarted the computer several times without any luck, so after trying this i simply ignored it for a while (using the windows task manager to open any programmes that were not on my desktop that i would normally use the 'start' button to acess, and also to navigate between programmes while multitasking as oppose to using the minimized windows), I had hoped that by today this problem would have been resolved, but... no luck, I sit down on my computer and I find the problem has not changed, Im sure anyone who reads this will need more specific information about my computer, but if you ask me for what you need to know as and when you need it and I will reply, also If in your replies you could dumb stuff down a bit that would also be much appriciated as I am unsure of the meanings of a large amount of technical phrases, I hope this problem can be resolved quickly and easily, thanks very much.

Basically you cannot find your Task Bar any more?

Can you run this as we need to know your operating system and some more.

Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
  • List Minidump Files
Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.

Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.

How do I get help? Who is helping me?For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear....Become a BleepingComputer fan: Facebook

Some files were corrupted.
Please run SFC (System File Checker)
Please run System File Checker sfc /scannow... For more information on this tool see How To Use Sfc.exe To Repair System Files

NOTE for Vista/WIN 7 users..The command needs to be run from an Elevated Command Prompt.Click Start, type cmd into the Start/Search box,
right-click cmd.exe in the list above and select 'Run as Administrator'

You will need your operating system CD handy.

Open Windows Task Manager....by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ESC

Then click File.. then New Task(Run)

Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
Download Link 1 <<<== Use this one first.

Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.
  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
  • Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide.
  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  • When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Then click Finish.
MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.
  • If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue.
  • If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
On the Scanner tab:
  • Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
  • Then click on the Scan button.
  • If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
  • The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
  • When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
Back at the main Scanner screen:
  • Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.
  • Exit MBAM when done.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

Troubleshoot Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
In the box that opens type sfc /scannow ......There is a space between c and /

Click OK
Let it run and insert the CD when asked.

Okay, I did the entire MBAM section, it found three things which I did as instructed with so it removed all three infections, it said i needed to restart my computer to properly remove them, and i restarted and the taskbar had not retured, oh and also I now have the problem that I cant use Ctrl Alt Delete to bring up my task manager anymore, however this started just before i shut down the computer, Its driving me crazy, I have no accesibility on my computer, I can't multitask or even navigate between programmes, so I will await your reply and do my best to be as helpful as possible towards the situation, I also cannot post the MBAM report at this time because managing to get it from where it is to a text box on this site wont be easy for me at all... but yeah so if you can get back to me as soon as possible then I hope we can sort this out.... thanks again :(
Jake.

Jake lets try running an AVIRA RESCUE CD
Try creating this disk and boot off of it. You will need another computer to make this disk on.

okay I am so sorry for leaving this for so long, I have been out a lot and have been so fedup with my computer being irritating that I basically haven't used it, I dont currently have any re-writable disks, I will try and get hold of one as soon as I have some money, I have downloaded the avira rescue programme and currently have it stored on a memory stick, and will transfer it to a cd as soon as possible, I read the tutorial and I pretty much understand what to be doing, so it's just boot off the cd, run a scan for malicious software and then do you need a copy of the report afterwards? or will running this hopefully just remove the problem?
thanks again so much.
Jake.

I would also like to add that last night I ran several scans with AVG, anitmalwarebytes and I am going to do one with zonealarm and windows essentials too, I also cleaned out loads of old stuff from my computer and uninstalled loads of programmes so it's really freed up the entire thing, so my current problems are simply this: my taskbar is still totally vanished (including the start button, and it doesnt open by pressing the windows button either), and just too add to that I cannot open the task manager at all, I have tried using CTRL+ALT+DELETE, CTRL+SHIFT+ESC, I have tried creating a desktop shortcut and clicking that, and every time I just get the hourglass symbol for about half a second before it dissapears and nothing at all happens, no matter how many times I try it is always the same...
thanks.
Jake.
