You should have a look under Programs and Features and you will probably find new software that has been added to make these effects possible. Simply uninstall it.

Whatever happened to the concept of...just asking the daughter what changes were made by her?

If you cannot see any new software installed under Programs and Features, as I suggested earlier, you may need to go into the graphics card software and check the settings, there may be something in there relating to 3D effects.

What kind of monitor is it?

If it is a flat screen, it's probably not the problem but check that the cables are plugged in tight just to be sure.

If it is a CRT, check the cable and the actual settings on the monitor (use the menu and settings buttons on the monitor itself to make sure they are set correctly, my son changes these by accident all the time on a CRT monitor which he uses).

If those suggestions don't work, try plugging a different monitor into it if it is not too difficult to arrange and see if the problem persists.

James
