I have been having issues with my new iphone4, and when prompted to trouble shoot by looking for the device in the device manager, none of my devices show in the window. Also, I cannot turn off User Account control to stop the consistent pop ups asking for permission to do anything. Any help you could provide would be appreciated. I am using an ASUS G2 laptop, running windows Vista 32bit.

As for UAC, use this simple utility and set uac to quiet mode: http://www.tweak-uac.com/home/

On the directions to modify the registry, I get to this point and there is no :

4. With "Enum" selected click the "Security", "Permissions" menu.

Am I looking for a folder "security"? or do I right click on Enum? and click on the "permissions" option?

I tried also to add that Tweak program and when I try to run it, it tells me there are no UAC settings to be found and to look for an updated version of the Tweak software.

Thanks,
Lori

Right click on ENUM

Select PERMISSIONS and then the SECURITY tab

If that doesnt work for you,you should try to run the fix given here

Create a restore point before running these fixes

http://www.mydigitallife.info/empty-device-manager-and-no-network-connections-after-installing-windows-xp-sp3-with-symantec-symprotect-on/

NOTE:Fixes given here work on systems which have windows XP SP3(not for you) or symantec installed in it

Probably if you have symantec installed on your PC try the symantecregfix

good luck

Thank you, I will give it a try and let you know how it works out. Just to be sure, before I run the second option...that fix is ok for Vista and a system that is NOT running any symantec products?
