Moved into new flat last week. Wireless being used by other flatmates fine but my connection does not allow browsing on internet. Wired connection works. Have had no problems with other free or secured wireless before. Installed Xirrus wi-fi inspector which shows an issue with connection. It sends bytes but does not receive any. Results posted below.

Connection Test Results
Test Address Summary Result
DNS Reachable 192.168.0.1 Ping: 0 of 5 Fail: 100% ping loss
Gateway Reachable 192.168.0.1 Ping: 0 of 5 Fail: 100% ping loss
DNS Lookup www.google.com
No IP address returned Fail: DNS lookup failure
Internet Reachable N/A N/A Fail: No IP available

What can I do to get a connection that allows web browsing? Ive tried resetting all internet settings to default.

I am using Windows Vista on an Acer Aspire 5315-2153.
The wireless adapter is an AR5007EG.
The router is a Netgear N150

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Are your drivers properly installed, and what kind of issues?

I just do not understand what is going on. Grrrr

where are you getting your drivers from, and does the device actually work. Are you able to turn it on?

i downloaded the latest driver for the device from 'pcpitstop' after uninstalling the driver that existed on the system when i bought it, just to see if the older driver was the issue. I didnt think it would be as the device was working properly. It is still working properly and with it I can turn it on and see available networks. I can even connect to the network I am trying to use in my flat BUT i cannot open a browser and connect to the internet.

Please download the latest driver from here: http://www.atheros.cz/atheros-wireless-download.php?chipset=22&system=3 and install it.

I would try doing a WinSock repair or try to set the DNS on your laptop to a common server like google (8.8.8.8).

Peace!
