All programs have turned into blank files

My programs no longer respond the way they are supposed to. They have lost their logos and look like blank files on my desktop. When I use open with google chrome, everything starts to open up to a tab in the chrome web browser trying to make a download.

Extract and launch the registry fix

Click YES when you get a UAC prompt

Restart the PC,you should get back your icons

It does not finish. An error pops up saying 'Not all data was successfully written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes.

Did you restart the PC?

I did not think that restarting would do anything since the process did not seem to finish, but now everything looks normal again. Thank you sooooo much for fixing this laptop!
