Hi:

My friend's HP Vista 64 bit notebook is infected with a bad virus. It won't start up normally just shows BSOD: Stop: c0000135 {unable to locate comonent}
This application has failed to start because consrv was not found Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I can run system restore and start up successfully but it's back to the BSOD after restarting. Looking at other posts I gather I should start with a Farbar64 log and am posting the log.

What's the next step? Really appreciate the help.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom,

Welcome to the forum.

Open notepad (Start =>All Programs => Accessories => Notepad). Please copy the entire contents of the code box below. (To do this highlight the contents of the box, right click on it and select copy. Right-click in the open notepad and select Paste). Save it on the flashdrive as fixlist.txt

start
SubSystems: [Windows] ==> ZeroAccess
end

Now please enter System Recovery Options and select Command Prompt.

Run FRST and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt) please post it to your reply.

Also restart, let it boot normally and tell me how it went.

Hi:

Looks like it did the trick. It's booting normally and I should be able to take it from here unless you recommend further steps.

Many Thanks!

Tom

Great. :thumbup2:

I just recommend one thing, the rest you can do on your own:

Run command Prompt as Administrator. To do that:
  • Go to Start and type cmd.exe in the Search box.
  • It gives you cmd.exe in the upper part. Right-click cmd.exe and select "Run As Administrator".
  • Copy the following command, right-click in the open Command prompt window and select Paste then press Enter:
    netsh winsock reset
  • Restart.

Thank you for donating.
