Okay, my question is, on an HDD, if you passed a battery* over it, what would happen?

I mean, would it wipe the HDD? or would it completely wreck it?

(This has no application to any problems I have. I am just curious)

Edit: Oops, magnet, not battery.

no it wouldn't wipe the drive, as you need a mighty powerful magnet called a Degausser to do that.

Not to mention that there is a very strong magnet inside the hard drive
