Windows Vista 64-bit box.

Removed the following infections:
-trojan.Fraudpack
-trojan.FakeAlert.Gen
-PUM.Hijack.StartMenu

After rerunning scan on Malwarebytes, MS Security Essentials, MSRT, etc. system appears clean.

Issue:
svchost.exe Memory running very high 150,000K+ and climbing
audioendpointbuilder, emdmgmt, hidserv, netman, etc. .dlls

Any utility or tools out there to clean the registry or any other tips? So far, registry cleaners have cleaned up issue.

Edit: Moved topic from Vista to the more appropriate forum, at the request of staff. ~ Animal

Check Primary and Secondary IDE settings: Device Manager -> IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers -> Primary or Secondary IDE Channel -> Properties -> Advanced Settings. Look at the Current Transfer Mode field.
See, if it's in PIO mode instead of DMA mode.

There are 4 IDE Channels listed. Only the 3rd one has a device listed and it's in DMA mode.

BTW - Do you know how reliable svchost Process Analyzer is? It shows a large list of potential issues, but there is no way to address them within the tool.

Type the following in the edit box after "Search:".

dhcpcore.dll

Click Search Files button and post the log (FSS.txt) it makes to your reply.

OK, we'll need either Vista DVD or another Vista computer to copy missing file from.

I know it's been awhile since I responded, but I wanted to give an update.

It turned out the hard drive was bad, so I replaced the hard drive and restored to Factory Settings.

All seems good now, but system svchost is still running high (idles at 120K+). However, before this was high and continued to climb. At least, it fluctuates up and down depending on what is working. Maybe this is normal for Vista??

Anyway, I wanted to say Thank You for your assistance on this and give you an update on the cause.
