After reading the request for help from MIKED719 on 1/30/12 with no resolution, I am in need of help with the newest variant of TDL4, an mbr rootkit that created a new 1mb mbr partition on my hard drive. Your forum states that it should be given a name of TCL5. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic435756.html/page__gopid__2593688#entry2593688
Haven't been able to find an answer yet. Bitdefender has a removal tool for TDL4, might try that tomorrow.
How do I know what I have? The old TDL4 or a newer version of that rootkit.

As we do not know which it would best to get a deeper look. Please go here....Preparation Guide ,do steps 6-9.

Create a DDS log and post it in the new topic explained in step 9 which is here Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs and not in this topic, thanks.
If GMER won't run skip it and move on.

Let me know if that went well.
