OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 3, 32 bit
Processor: AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 3200+, x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 10
Processor Count: 1
RAM: 2047 Mb
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200, 128 Mb
Hard Drives: C: Total - 186201 MB, Free - 113726 MB; D: Total - 4561 MB, Free - 532 MB;
Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC., Diablo
Avira Free Antivirus installed, up to date and active! XP is the 2002 version. I have Road Runner cable for ISP.

The computer is a(n) HP Pavilion a530n I don't recall the exact date of purchase but, I have had it at least 8 years. In spite of a few bumps along the road, it has been quite good to me. I would buy another if the need arises!
The issue I need some feedback on is this, ... This is and has been a pretty quick machine for its age. It still runs with that quality until I get on Facebook and go to play some of their resource hungry games, i.e. Double Down Casino or Mystery Manor. Then it slows down to like dial-up speeds! I have opened the Task Manager to the Performance tab several different times and the CPU is always maxed out but, it seems only when using the Facebook games ... I maxed the RAM hoping it would help the situation but, there is plenty of unused memory and the CPU is maxed!
Are there changes I can make somewhere to alleviate the stress on the CPU? I remember, somewhere years back, changes can be made to, like the "Commit Charge" or, "Kernel Memory" settings ??? Don't know for sure but, it is something I read or heard somewhere ...

Any suggestions or ideas will be appreciated!

Edit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Hello -
Can you post a screen shot of Task Manager under "normal" usage, then the same under "maxed out" conditions -

Thank You -
EDIT - I (read the dear wife) do not have this problem, so any picture may help :)

As requested, here are images of the two conditions ... I used Paint, I have had bad experiences with Irfanview in the past resetting everything to open with it! If these are not clear enough, I will try something different!

Use the performance tab and arrange process according to high CPU usage then recapture again the image as suggested by noknojon. You can also post your speedtest on good and slow connection results.

"jhayz", you lost me ..."Use the performance tab and arrange process according to high CPU usage then recapture again" ... I understand, Processes tab in Task Manager but beyond that, how to "arrange process according to high CPU usage" ??? And then "You can also post your speedtest on good and slow connection results." Where do I find said speedtest?

how to "arrange process according to high CPU usage" ???

When in processes tab, click/2x click CPU in between user name, memory.

Where do I find said speedtest?

http://www.speedtest.net/ - After running speedtest, click share this result. Right-click the http box and then select all. Then right-click again copy and paste it back on the reply box here by right-clicking here again.

I maxed the RAM hoping

How did you set this?

First, as requested, the Processes image ... uh oh, no "Attachment" button provided! Will Post and re-open browser to start over!

Second, the Sppedtest results link, ... http://www.speedtest.net/result/1775053704.png
Third, by maxing the RAM, I meant I went from 2x512 mb sticks to 2x1024mb, the maximum capacity for this machine.

The reason you don't see an attachments button is because I moved this topic from a forum where attachments are permitted(The XP OS Forum). To a forum that does not allow them for member security purposes. There are other forums that do not allow attachments for the same reason. Only a select set of forums allow attachments.

Animal, thanks for responding! That explains why the button is not available however, I DID post/attach those screenshots after the move! why did/are members ask me to post screenshots? Why did "hamluis", listed as a Moderator provide a link on how to post a screenshot? If I have to provide an external link to the screenshots such as Photobucket or the like, I will be happy to figue out how to do so.
The problem I originally posted for still remains! Is there a reason my CPU maxes out while playing Facebook games? Is it just too old and slow to handle them? If this is the case, I will understand! I have been told before, Facebook game providers need to keep up to date with technology. I just simply can't afford to buy a new machine every year or two!

According to forum time stamps in the admin tools I have available, I moved this topic one hour and 3 minutes after your post #4 with the two task manager screenshot attachments. You have not attached anything after that time stamp.

Using an external link to a site such as photobucket etc. is perfectly acceptable for posting screenshots.
We have a guide for inserting images in posts here: Inserting An Image Within A Post

Hope this information helps.

Alright, Animal, ... looking at the date stamps, I was probably wrong! I am knocking on 60 and the memory is not what it used to be ... lol ... anyways, here is a Photobucket link to the original image I took back on the 15th of this month. >>>>> Posted Image Hope this helps but like I mentioned then, regardless if I use Firefox or IE, it is the maxed out Process!

Try updating Adobe Flash Player, I doubt it's the problem but it's a simple thing to try. You can update here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Also, does your CPU rise when using other flash-based things? Not asking if it maxes out, but how much CPU does firefox use when watching a YouTube video or something similar? Is it alot higher then standard web browsing?
