I have an Asus notebook running OEM Windows 7 x64 thats about 6 months old that keeps crashing intermittently with the same BSOD. From the research I've been able to do so far, most opinions seem to lean towards a driver issue. I have attempted to update many of the drivers (mainly intel ones) but the problem presists. I have run various hardware diagnostics (memtest86, hdd diags) and found no failures. I am attaching links to various diagnostic info I have collected so far. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Currently running driver verifier with no BSOD's at startup.

Download BlueScreenView:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html
unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe to run the program.
when scanning is done, go to EDIT - Select All
Go to FILE - SAVE Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all of the content, and paste it into your next reply

Thank You -

0x00000093: INVALID_KERNEL_HANDLE: This is a relatively rare error condition. Most documentation points to a driver problem — so check all hardware drivers starting with the most obvious, the video driver. Microsoft’s main page recommends general hardware troubleshooting.

Per http://www.aumha.org/a/stop.htm .

Since you have ntfs.sys errors...I would start with trying to run chkdsk /r to see if it will complete.

I would follow that up with the appropriate hard drive diagnostic, available at the website of the hard drive manufacturer.

Free Hard Drive Testing Tools - Hard Drive Diagnostics - http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/tp/tophddiag.htm

If you have a Seagate or Samsung hard drive, use the SeaTools for DOS utility, following instructions provided.

Chkdsk did not find any problems. I have run fairly extensive hardware diags including PCDR, seatools, memtest86+, and all have found failures. I have a newer crash dump that occured with driver verifier active:

<<I have run fairly extensive hardware diags including PCDR, seatools, memtest86+, and all have found failures.>>

Well...if your hard drive did not pass the diagnostic...I'd focus on that first, since the O/S and data files are stored there.

Sorry that was a typo, meant to write found no failures. All of the hardware diagnostics I have run have passed.

If the hard drive itself is sound...that would (IMO) tend to point to either Windows file corruption...or a partition problem.

If it's a partition problem, there is little that I know that can be done.

If it's a file system problem...well, I would run the chkdsk /r command and see what happens.

Everything looks pretty standard. I notice that you are using the Symantec antivirus that probably came pre-installed on it.

Does it seem to be running okay? Can you click update and have it update okay (I noticed you have defs from 2/9 so it has worked recently).

Something about it though caught my attention and I can't put my finger on it. Keep an eye on whether or not it appears to be active when you have a blue screen.

Well when I was looking into the more recent BSOD that occured during driver verifier (the fltmgr.sys one) I did notice some people saying it might be associated with norton. Will try removing it and seeing what happens.

It just looks like something is missing from your Symantec install and I don't have a machine on my bench today that has an OEM Symantic install on it so I can't say for sure :)

If you do remove it, please be sure to put another antivirus on it. There are some very good free ones. Look in the virus forums here to see what the Malware Removal Team members are recommending.

Let us know it removing it helps.

James
