A couple of weeks ago my computer was running very slow and crashed. would not even load windows. I got it to boot into bios so I could boot from disk. Inserted the windows vista business disc and repaired the pci.sys file and a few other things. The computer ran smooth for a couple of days. Now, the same thing. Avira found something and now is finding nothing. said it was "TR/Crypt.xPack.Gen2 in ...Windows\System32\drivers\pci.sys".

I am at my wits end. ANY one able to look at some kinda logs to see if you can help me figure this really annoying virus thingy out? It seems to bother the actual disk. But then again, i just dont know.

PLEASE help!!! I run my very small business/volunteer work off this thing. Tried to back up what I could. Where do I begin?? Avira, malwarebytes etc... nothing seems to be catching it anymore. It is MEAN!

THANK YOU SOOO much ahead of time.

Still waiting for it to download the update before it scans. Had to restart after malwarebytes. It started all at once around early january. I saw in the event logs when the blocks were going bad. Same time avira said that I had that trojan. Then it would come up with a little rectangular window that said "scanning computer...". In the task manager it showed as avira. Then another time the same box that said avira showed as malwarebytes. Is my HD just dying?? Wish I knew more about this stuff. This is a new hd for this computer. And a new hard drive it self. Not used. Just started aswMBR. Will post it when it is done. Thanks soo much.

I had to reboot again. Black screen. Am in safemode now. I got the first "log" to aswMBR. It didn't finish running so I have to redo it.

The computer will not let avast finish scanning. It says in a microsoft windows box "avast! Antirootkit has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

I don't see anything malicious but I suspect you may have hard drive issue:

Error: (02/09/2012 06:43:35 PM) (Source: disk) (User: )
Description: The device, \Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad block.

Run hard drive diagnostics: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287 (or http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28744&hl=hard+drive+diagnostic)
Make sure, you select tool, which is appropriate for the brand of your hard drive.
Depending on the program, it'll create bootable floppy, or bootable CD.
If downloaded file is of .iso type, use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn .iso file to a CD (select "Write image file to disc" option), to make the CD bootable.
For Toshiba hard drives, see here: http://sdd.toshiba.com/main.aspx?Path=ServicesSupport/FujitsuDrivesUSandCanada/SoftwareUtilities#diagnostic

Note : If you do not know how to set your computer to boot from CD follow the steps HERE

I just recovered from a blue screen "almost of death" that said "Run the driver verify against any new or suspect drivers....." Then there was a "technical information area" that said "STOP" 0x000000c5 (0c0054005c, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x81F3A7D5"
Then "Dumping physical memory to disk 40".

Is it the hard drive? It showe up before and now it isn't. Other sites said that it was a trojan that made the hd appear to fail. that a complete install would fix it. Just trying to save some research.

Thanks for all of your help.

Ran speed fan to check the hd and did get that the hd is failing. not sure to take this for what it is or to believe that it is a trojan like the other sites had said.
Not sure how to post that. This keeps crashing and it is late here.

If you have important data on that drive do NOT use it anymore.

Follow advice from my previous reply how to run hard drive diagnostics.
