Hello All

I was wondering if anyone else has run into getting some bad luck and getting infected with the trojan horse generic26.qp virus.

I was doing a routine scan when avg found and flagged numerous files infected the virus but avg cannot clean them.

i booted into safe mode and performed a scan using malwarebytes. at first malwarebytes didnot detect the virus because i believe avg has protected the by moving the files to its vault. i then uninstalled avg and ran another scan of malwarebytes. it detected some other things but did not list the generic26 virus. i performed 4 scans so far yielding some results each time and less infected files. i had also performed 1 scan using combofix at a recommendation of a friend but i think i did more harm than good becuase when i tried to reinstall avg or perform a windows update i am getting that the windows installer is either corrupted, missing or not registered. i tried to re-register the windows update files using the online help but with no success.
