Hello. Ad-aware SE has found 1 Registry Key and 2 Registry Values that I cannot seem to fix. These findings do not show up when I run Ad-aware in safe mode. Also, Spybot, CWS Shredder, and Symantec have found nothing. Unfortunately, I do not really know how to properly read and interpret a HijackThis log, so I will post that since I have no idea if it has found anything worth removing.

The Ad-aware search reveals:
HKEY_USERS: S-1-5-21-2593983530-694347738-3500891552-1003\software\mircrosoft\windows\current version\ext\stats\{72267f6a-a6f9-11d0-bc94-00c04fb67863}\

HKEY_CURRENT_USER: software\microsoft\internet explorer\desktop\general"WallpaperStyle" (2)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER: control panel\desktop"WallpaperStyle" (2)

Selecting "next" and removing them does nothing more than frustrate me as they show up again as soon as I restart my computer.

Now, for the HiJackThis log:

I ran this HJT scan after "fixing" the aforementioned findings in ad-aware- I do not know if that is relevant to how this HJT log turned out or not. I don't think so, but if you'd like me to run HJT withoug having run Ad-aware first, please let me know. Thank you very much in advance.

Download the latest Ad-Aware definitions and see if it goes away. This is a false positive and has been corrected in the latest definitions.

Wow! OK, the latest Ad-Aware definitions did not show any pesky spyware like before. I do have two questions though:
1) I completely forgot to mention this when I originally posted... For some reason, my computer wallpaper (a snapshot of my girlfriend and my family's chihuahua) would reset itself to "center" even though I had it set on "stretch" as to compress it to fit my screen. There seemed to be no threat here, other than the fact that it was changing when I didn't want it to. That's why I thought there really was something to this "WallpaperStyle" problem. It has not happened since I turned on my computer today, but what may have caused it?

2) Is there anything about my HJT log that needs to be taken care of?

Well, this is my third topic to post on BleepingComputer, and each time, everyone has been a tremendous help- Thank you so much!

~Jon

I'm pretty sure that "WallpaperStyle" (2) means "Stretch."

I don't see anything in your hijack log that stands out. Looks clean to me, but then, I'm not yet a hijack person, not having completed the training. You might make sure you're using Spybot Search and Destroy as well as Ad-Aware - they tend to overlap. I'd recommend that you use Microsoft Antispyware, too.

I am running Spybot as well as Ad-Aware. Thanks for the insight as to the "stretch" issue, and the suggestions. I hope there are no more problems on my system and that I can leave all you good people alone for a while. Thanks again!
