Hello i am posting here because i am at my wits end. My computer has been running slow so i did some testing. i have a Dell XPS420, am running Windows Vista 64bit and have 8gigs of ram intstalled. i am using Trend Micro security suite for internet security and recently installed RU Botted and Spybot S&D after reading your forum on things to do before you post in this forum. i have ran AOL Computer Checkup lite and made some adjustments according to their suggestions (some i didn't do because i don't know how). one of the areas of concern according to Aol CC lite is that critical sreas of my system are out of value. i also generated a system report and it mentioned and abnormally stopped system service:Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)
Exit Code: 1068
Service Name: stisvc
Path C:\Windows\System32|svchost.exe-k imgsvc
Service Code: 0
Started: False
State: False

here are the symptoms i am experiencing. all programs installed take at least a minute to load With most having a banner stating it is not responding and when i click on the x to close the offending program, it will suddenly start responding and the close. IE explorer loads at about the same rate often with the same aforementioned results. i currently have task manager up and would like to give you the current details. CPU Usage is currently hovering around 30% : physical memory being used is 42% = 3.36GB while the following apps are being utilized. Trend Micro scanning ; Posting New Topic on this forum, and a Solitaire game opened.

Physical Memory (MB) System

Up Time 18:04 (as of this post)
Page File 3169/ 9260M
Kernel Memory (MB)
Total 1255
Paged 1082
Nonpaged 172

i can post a copy of the AOL cc lite report upon request.
Addendum: i also tried to generate a hijack this file but it wouldn't post to notebook, nor would it let me open as admin.

any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated :killcomp: :killcomp: :killcomp:

Hello and welcome. Can you do this as we need a deeper look. Please go here....Preparation Guide ,do steps 6-9.

Create a DDS log and post it in the new topic explained in step 9 which is here Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs and not in this topic, thanks.
If GMER won't run skip it and move on.

Let me know if that went well.

turn off any Pop-up Blocker, Ad Blocker, etc and your antivirus ONLY while you run DDS and BMER. Put them on after.

I added the info from your PM and combined your posts.

Now that your log is properly posted, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a Malware Removal Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.

From this point on the Malware Removal Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the Malware Removal Team members are very busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the Malware Removal Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another MRL Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

The current wait time is 1 - 5 days and ALL logs are amswered.

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic.
