I just finished removing the VBS.Gedza .A (worm/virus)and worm.vb.AN and the w32/killAV.V@troj.
Needless to say it was quite infected (1400 )or so files and folders.

That being said, now I that I have doubled check with Spybot search & destroy, Lavasoft Ad-awareSE , Housecall, Panda, Bit-defender and McAfee Stinger it all seems to be clear of virus and malware.

Also I have no sound even after trying to reload drivers

Boot time is a little slower(lol)

I have this for my computer:

Microsoft Windows 98 4.10.2222 A
Upgrade using Full OEM CD /SrcDir=D:\WIN98 /IQ /U:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
IE 5 6.0.2800.1106
Uptime: 0:00:20:51
Normal mode
AuthenticAMD AMD Athlon™ XP
512MB RAM
83% system resources free
Windows-managed swap file on drive C (36059MB free)
Available space on drive C: 36059MB of 57225MB (FAT32)
Field Value
Motherboard ID 08/04/2004-nVidia-nForce-A7N8XÄXC-00

Hoping you can help me with this .

Greg

in detail it says...

MSGSRV32 caused a general protection fault in module .COMMCTRL>DLL at :00000227

when I close the error message the screen is my normal desktop but I have no icons and no task bar. when I press ctrl alt del to reboot there is nothing in the close program to close, and sometimes it says
Mpr exe not responding?
I hope that is enough info cause it's all I got

I do not see anything wrong here...unfortunately since you can not access the normal mode of windows 98 onthis machine I cant have you check some of the online virus scanners that we normally use in these situations.

You may be better off reinstalling 98.

You should be able to insert the 98 cd and reboot the computer with it inside. It should then boot off of that cd and then start the 98 setup. Do not delete/format any existing partitions so you do not lose data.
