Unfortunately, when I run DDS.exe, the scan completes but when I close the window, no .txt reports show up.

Also I have tried to run and install aswMBR several times and it does not even open or process the application. I have done both in safe mode as well.

This virus literally has plagued my computer. I had to do a system restore just to get it back operational. Now, half of my files and folders are set to hidden and I don't know how to reverse it to the original setting.

this should unhide the icons

Please download Unhide.exe to your desktop:
  • Double-click on the Unhide.exe icon on your desktop and allow the program to run.
  • This program will remove the hidden attributes from all the files on your system.
  • Note: If you had purposely hidden any files, then you will need to hide them again after this tool has run.

now see if you can run this program

Download OTL to your Desktop
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • Select All Users
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in
    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    explorer.exe
    winlogon.exe
    Userinit.exe
    svchost.exe
    /md5stop
    CREATERESTOREPOINT
  • Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
  • Post both logs

Wow, you're awesome !!

Looking good so far. You can be sure a donation will be coming your way! I think my virus is hiding itself in the Temp folders and constantly renaming itself. No matter how many times i've run AVG and malwarebytes it keeps on coming back.

Hi,

Please do the following

Refer to the ComboFix User's Guide

  • Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

    Link 1
    Link 2

    * IMPORTANT !!! Place ComboFix.exe on your Desktop
  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with ComboFix.
    You can get help on disabling your protection programs here
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • Your desktop may go blank. This is normal. It will return when ComboFix is done. ComboFix may reboot your machine. This is normal.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

    Note:
    Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • Ensure your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications are re-enabled.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE: If you encounter a message "illegal operation attempted on registry key that has been marked for deletion" and no programs will run - please just reboot and that will resolve that error.

hi

Please do the following;

  • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before following the steps below.
  • They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
Copy/paste the text inside the Codebox below into notepad:

Here's how to do that:
Click Start > Run type Notepad click OK.
This will open an empty notepad file:

Copy all the text inside of the code box - Press Ctrl+C (or right click on the highlighted section and choose 'copy')

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Wow6432Node\~\Browser Helper Objects\{30F9B915-B755-4826-820B-08FBA6BD249D}]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar]
"{30F9B915-B755-4826-820B-08FBA6BD249D}"=-
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\clsid\{30f9b915-b755-4826-820b-08fba6bd249d}]

File::
c:\program files (x86)\ConduitEngine\ConduitEngine.dll

ClearJavaCache::

Now paste the copied text into the open notepad - press CTRL+V (or right click and choose 'paste')

Save this file to your desktop, Save this as "CFScript"

Here's how to do that:

1.Click File;
2.Click Save As... Change the directory to your desktop;
3.Change the Save as type to "All Files";
4.Type in the file name: CFScript
5.Click Save ...

Posted Image
  • Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
  • ComboFix may request an update; please allow it.
  • ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
  • Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.

CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

NEXT

  • Please open your MalwareBytes AntiMalware Program
  • Click the Update Tab and search for updates
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. <-- very important
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Grrrrr i've literally been on phone support with Dell Computer all day. After I ran those last tests, my computer all of sudden shut down (reason unknown). It now can't be rebooted, neither in system restore nor repair. When it boots, the system hangs on "Windows is loading files..."

I ordered a Windows 7 Boot DVD from Dell which will hopefully be delivered by the end of the week. I'm using a backup computer in the meantime. Any suggestions?

well that is strange, we haven't removed anything that will cause it not to boot

see if you can boot to the last known good configuration

Tap F8 upon boot up until an option menu appears > arrow up to "Last Known Good Configuration"

If it still won't boot then try the following:

please create this batch file and save it to a usb drive.

Open Notepad and copy/paste the following into Notepad:
FOR %%G IN (c d e f g) DO @IF NOT EXIST Done.txt IF EXIST %%G:\Windows\ERDNT\Hiv-Backup\ (
ECHO.%%G is the drive we're looking for 1>Done.txt
CD /D %%G:\Windows\ERDNT\Hiv-Backup\
IF EXIST ..\..\System32\config\software.OLD DEL /A/F ..\..\System32\config\software.OLD
REN ..\..\System32\config\software software.OLD
IF EXIST ..\..\System32\config\system.OLD DEL /A/F ..\..\System32\config\system.OLD
REN ..\..\\System32\config\system system.OLD
COPY /Y software ..\..\System32\config\
COPY /Y system ..\..\System32\config\
)
Save this as Win7.bat, and as Type 'All Files'.

Now Insert the flash drive into the machine that wont boot.

Now you will need to boot the computer into the Recovery Environment, which is done via the Advanced Boot Options Menu. With the flash drive inserted, restart the machine and tap F8. From the Advanced Boot Options menu, select Repair Your Computer . Follow the prompts to enter keyboard output method, and password if there is one. If no password is being used, simply press Enter.

You should now see the Recovery Environment Menu. From that menu, select Command Prompt

You will need to change directory to the drive letter of your flash drive. Bear in mind that while in the Recovery Environment, all the drive letters have moved up one letter. If your usb drive is typically D:\ it will now be E:\, it was was E:\, it will now be F:\, etc. You may have to try several letters until you find the correct one.

To change directory, type in the following at the X:\> prompt:

cd /d e:\

(note there is a space before, and after, /d )

Press Enter.

If that drive letter exists, you will now be at the e:\> prompt. If it does not exist, it will tell you it is not found. If that is the case, repeat the above command using a different letter until you successfully change drives.

To ensure you have indeed accessed the flash drive, type in the following and press Enter:

dir

You should see a listing of the contents of that drive. If you see Win7.bat, you have accessed the proper drive. If not, change directory (cd /d) to another letter until you locate the flash drive.

Once you've accomplished that, type in the following and press Enter:

Win7.bat

At the prompt, type in the following and press Enter:

cd /d d:\

At the d:\> prompt, type in the following and press Enter:

cd windows\erdnt\hiv-backup\erdnt.bat

The Erunt backups will begin copying. When it has finished, type in Exit and press Enter. Windows will now begin to load.
