Will not load Window Root missing or corrupt

HELP>>>>>>> I in stalled a driver for a lexmark printer from lexmark said to restart i closed everything out and restarted computer now i get "Windows could not start becasue the following file is missing or corrupt:
<Windows root>\system32\hal.dll. Please re-install a copy of the above file.
Now i've tried to restart to the last working configuration, in safe mode, safe mode with networking and nothing.
What do i do. I have files on spread sheet that i dont want to loose (tax time) :angry:

It seems your hal.dll was removed, deleted or corrupt
You'll need to replace the file so you'll probably need a windows xp recovery cd. Do you have one or know some one who does?
