A few days ago I started receiving messges of this type: "Undeliverable: [my email address] wants to be your friend on Windows Live". The error message is from postmaster@mail.hotmail.com.

Each of these messages is addressed to a different person that I don't know. Is this malware?

The link you provided shows cases of people not being able to successfully send messages to hotmail addresses. In my case, I'm not the one sending the messages to hotmail. Some other computer is sending out the messages using my email address as its return address. I'm getting 6-7 of these phony messages returned to me every day, all of them addressed to people I don't know. I can't change my address because it is a university address that is assigned.
