Hello,

Recently my dad's laptop was infected with the Vista Internet Security 2012 virus.

I tried following the "Automated Removal Instructions for Vista Internet Security 2012 using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware:" instructions @ http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-vista-internet-security-2012, but I've encountered a few problems.

- Whenever I attempt to fix the registry using FixNCR.reg, a window that shows the potential risks of changing the registry pops up briefly before closing down. As far as I can tell, the process is killed before it can be completed (likely the virus trying to protect itself).

- Any diagnostic tool I try to use (dds.scr, GMER, etc.) do not open when I click them. As a result, I am unable to post any logs.

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

We hired someone to clean up the virus, everything has returned to normal.

Can someone close this thread so other people can get help more quickly? Thanks.
