hi could any one please help me. dont know what my computers got but its giving me a lot of headache. no matter how many time i run ad-aware or spybot...it keeps finding the same thing again and again even thought it says it has deleted everything. also i use my norton and suprisingly it doesnt detect anything when i do a full scan but then all these alerts keep poppin up after sayin norton has detected a virus. i really dont know what to do.any help will be appreciated. thanks

Welcome back ashish079.

Just a note.. You have 2 anti-viruses running at the same time, AVG and Norton, well that's a bad habit, because this will not help you to protect your computer more, but it will just conflict with each other, and at the same time, eating your computer's resources. So my recommendation is to uninstall one and leave one. I personally use AVG.

Please follow the instructions provided, you may want to print out these instructions and use them as a reference. If you have any questions regarding the fix, please ask us before proceeding.

Download Tools

Please download these tool(s) first before we proceed to the next steps:

1. ATF Cleaner
  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • We will use this later.
2. Ewido Anti-Malware
  • Install Ewido.
  • When installing, under Additional Options, uncheck:
    • Install background guard
    • Install scan via context menu
  • Launch Ewido.
  • The program will now open the main screen.
  • You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files
    • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
    • Then click on the Start Update button.
  • The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  • After it has finished, close Ewido, we will use it later.
  • If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido Ewido manual updates.

Run HijackThis

Please open HJT, click Do a system scan only, and then place a checkmark beside each of these entries:

After placing all the checkmarks, close all windows (except HJT), and then hit Fix Checked. When it finishes, exit HJT.

Show Hidden Files and Folders
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Click the Tools menu.
  • Click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.

Boot into Safe Mode. Please restart your computer and as soon as it starts to boot, tap F8 repeatedly. A menu should appear, select Safe Mode from the menu and then hit Enter on your keyboard. (this will take a while, so don't worry, just wait)

Run ATF Cleaner
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Delete Files and Folders

Use Windows Explorer (click Start Run type: explorer OK) to navigate to and delete the following files and/or folders (if present):

a. Files :J:\WINDOWS\system32\winlog.exe
C:\windows\winsysupd7.exe
c:\windows\gimmygames.exe
b. Folders :J:\Program Files\outlook\
NOTE: Please let us know if there were any files or folders that you couldn't delete or find.

Run Ewido
  • Click on scanner.
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • You will be prompted to clean the first infection.
  • Select Remove if you don't know that file, otherwise, just leave it if you think that it's legit.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report.
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.
  • Close ewido security suite.

Restart your computer.

Run an online scan at Panda's ActiveScan
  • Please go here and perform a full system scan.
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button.
  • A new window will open...click the big Check Now button.
  • Enter your Country.
  • Enter your State/Province.
  • Enter your Valid Email and click send.
  • Select either Home User or Company.
  • Click the big Scan Now button.
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it.
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan.
  • Click on Local Disks to start the scan.
  • Save the log file created to your Desktop.
